To Wei-Yee Chan,
As of my experiments, only Windows 7's chdksk (incl. its installation disk and
Windows PEs based on Win7) can successfully fix the partition. All older
versions, i.e. XP's and Vista's, only report a "RAW disk" error, while Win7's
say "NTFS boot sector corrupted, using the second MFT instead" and finally,
"Windows has made corrections to the filesystem".
