Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz
After disabling the "Grid" (#716313), when using "Snapping Windows", the edge resistance causes the window to resist between the edge of the screen and the edge of the _shadow_ of the window. I would have expected (and preferred) the shadow to be ignored when snapping, and the resistance to be between the edge of the screen and the edge of the window. It seems that when windows are originally placed by compiz, they will go right into the corner as would be expected. Using 11.04, apport-collect data to follow. --- Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, move, gnomecompat, resize, compiztoolbox, snap, regex, place, vpswitch, imgpng, mousepoll, animation, session, wall, workarounds, expo, ezoom, staticswitcher, fade, scale, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz DRM.card0.HDMI.A.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1366x768 1366x768 1280x720 1152x768 1024x768 800x600 848x480 720x480 640x480 edid-base64: AP///////wAwrpBAAAAAAAATAQOAHRB46v7lk1hUjCggUFQAAAABAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEB7htWkFAAFTAoIDYAJaUQAAAZSBdWkFAAFTAoIDYAJaUQAAAZAAAADwCMCTKMCSgUCQAyDAAAAAAA/gBMUDEzM1dIMi1UTE40AA== DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-03-03 18:24:51.639204 DistroCodename: natty DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes GraphicsCard: ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics] [1002:9612] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21b3] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) InstallationMedia_: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) MachineType: LENOVO 019727U Package: compiz 1:0.9.4-0ubuntu3 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LC_COLLATE=C PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/zsh ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-5-generic root=UUID=c0260f8f-79d1-4996-a8b2-dd52a4b4c502 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-5.32-generic 2.6.38-rc6 ProcVersionSignature_: Ubuntu 2.6.38-5.32-generic 2.6.38-rc6 Renderer: Unknown Tags: natty running-unity natty running-unity ubuntu compiz-0.9 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-5-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-03-04 (1 days ago) UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare dmi.bios.date: 03/05/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6ZET29WW (1.16 ) dmi.board.name: INVALID dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6ZET29WW(1.16):bd03/05/2010:svnLENOVO:pn019727U:pvrThinkPadEdge:rvnLENOVO:rnINVALID:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 019727U dmi.product.version: ThinkPad Edge dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.4-0ubuntu3 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.23-1ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.10.1~git20110215.cc1636b6-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6~3ubuntu11 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.0-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.14.0-4ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110107+b795ca6e-0ubuntu5 ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected compiz-0.9 natty running-unity ubuntu ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 natty running-unity ubuntu ** Description changed: Binary package hint: compiz After disabling the "Grid" (#716313), when using "Snapping Windows", the edge resistance causes the window to resist between the edge of the screen and the edge of the _shadow_ of the window.
