Hello Chris, As i have say, you have take the good decision to close with little problem.
But, I don't think this problem is invalid , this problem seems corrected but has existed. So i think the status must be "Fix Released" and not "Invalid". Even this problem was shortly corrected, on the root servers or on the mirror. It can be interessant to save this to make statistics and to consequently to correct the process which have create it. And if this desync is an exception, i think this is a bad idea to make as this isn't exist. So this decision must be take by the launchpad team, i let you choice.
