Also, what's the origin and content of /usr/share/site-lisp/global? It seems to originate from outside of Ubuntu, so this is probably not a bug in Ubuntu's Emacs packaging. If you can confirm this, we can probably close your bug report as Invalid (meaning there is nothing the Ubuntu Emacs maintainer can do to prevent a third-party package from violating policy). Pardon me if this analysis turns out to be too hasty or harsh -- and in any event, please do provide the requested background information, i.e. the output of dpkg -S /usr/share/emacs/site- lisp/global and/or fgrep -r site-lisp/global /var/lib/dpkg/info and ls -l /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/global
