Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

sorry, making a concise summary defeated me on this one. :-)

If you start an application from the commandline, it runs, it puts an
icon on the launcher, you can then right-click over that icon and select
"Keep In Launcher". Then you quit the application. Trying to
subsequently launch the application fails. The icon just pulses for a
while, then gives up.

And because this is unity, I have no idea if there's a file somewhere
where I can *fix* the commandline the launcher is presumably trying to
use, and no idea why it's failing (though my guess is the command it
stored for launching is based on something like output from ps, and
doesn't actually work).
