Public bug reported:

When deleting a file with invalid encoding the content of the trash is
not longer visible.

Example:

Create a file with the command

touch "$(echo -e "foo\0224bar")"

move the file in the trash (with nautilus)

open the trash with nautilus or the trash-applet

The content of the trash looks like empty but the trash is not empty.

Ubuntu 10.4.2 LTS, Gnome 2.30.2, language=german.

** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
