Here's the fourth variation of when my wireless card was working properly, then
I turned it off with the button on my keyboard:
0: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: yes

In this state I tried to start my wireless with "sudo ifconfig wlan0 up", which
wouldn't allow me to start, and I got the following message back:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-kill
