I think I can elaborate on that:
As far as I have seen, the upgrade to a new version cleans up the 
/var/log/dist-upgrade/ directory by putting all files that are there from a 
previous upgrade into a subdirectory with a name of the current date and time.
So in your case the files from November 2008 have been put into the 
20090423-1810 directory
the files from April 2009 are in the 20091104-2146 directory
...
the files from April and May 2010 are in the 20110220-2200 directory (a bit 
strange to have files from two dates there!)
the files from the (probably failed) first attempt at 20 Feb 2011 22:00 are in 
the 20110220-2211 directory
and finally the files from the latest upgrade attempt at 20 Feb 2011 22:11 are 
in the dist-upgrade directory itself.

But as I wrote above the contents of the files will not show anything
that helps with the (assumed) kernel failure.
