This appears in Ubuntu (Gnome) for me. The whole screen goes black, and
the screensaver only fills the upper left 640x480 rectangle of my
1024x768 screen. Interestingly enough, it seems that _sometimes_ the
screensaver switches to fill the entire screen at some point (after
running > 0.5h), but even then there are artifacts of some panel applets
(systemmonitor) appearing.
