I use a script in local-top "cryptall" to call the passphrase, store it as a 
variable in ram, unlock all the disks, one of which has the root partition as 
an LVM volume,, overwrite the variable, then unset it before exiting. The 
script calls plymouth ask-for-password, just like the normal cryptroot script 
does in the initramfs.
