Solution from comment #42 works for me, even after resuming from sleep
it is "respecting" the "ondemand" setting.  In summary:

edit:

/etc/rc.local

add:

cpufreq-selector -g ondemand

I have a Toshiba Tecra M10 Core2Duo 2.4GHz processor.  Thanks for the
