This patch doesn't seem to have been applied to the source shipped in the bcmwl-kernel-source package, but only in the built sources, which are shipped as binary. I'm using version 5.60.48.36+bdcom-0ubuntu5 and I had to apply the patch manually to build the source from /usr/src/5.60.48.36+bdcom. (Same problem as with bug 590924.)
