I've been discussing this issue with Steve Sakoman(Overo patch author) and Ash Charles(works for Gumstix). Steve is keeping a set of patches on top of the latest kernel releases. However, there's some hold back to his current patch for dss2 support. Basically its being held up waiting for another patch to get included into the kernel.
If all goes well, it looks like this is on target to make the 2.6.39 kernel.
