Please try the following package from my PPA for testing prior to an upload to -proposed:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~mathieu-tl/+archive/nm And the package is network-manager 0.8.1+git.20100810t184654.ab580f4-0ubuntu2.1~mtrudel1~preproposed ; it's the only NetworkManager package in that PPA for Maverick.
