** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: thunderbird
+ Steps to reproduce:

- I received an email with a zip file attached.
+ 1) Open a message you have received in your inbox, some message with an
attachment
+ 2) Right click on the attachment and choose "save as"
+ 3) Select a location to save it, in a disk where you have not enough space
available
+ 4) Click OK.

- In thunderbird, if I double click on the attachment and select to open
- it with archive manager (default), I can open it and browse its
- contents. So the attachment is fine.
+ Expected behaviour:

- But if I right-click and select "save as", it is saved as a 0-byte file.
- It doesn't give any error messages: simply saves the file as a corrupted
- 0-byte file. It even takes a little time to save it (it's a 18 megabyte
- file) and shows a progress bar while saving it, but then, the saved file
- is 0 bytes in size and I cannot open or extract it.
+ * An error message should appear, such as "Cannot save the attachment.
+ Not enough free space on disk" or whatever. And the file shouldn't be
+ even created.

- This has happened only with one particular file so far.
+ Observed behaviour:

- It is even possible that the file I have been sent has some problem;
- however, if I am able to open it without saving it, there's no reason I
- shouldn't be able to save it. Also, if the file is corrupt or has any
- issue, Thunderbird should definitely show an error message, not just
- silently fail. So no matter whether the file I have received is corrupt
- or not, thunderbird is not behaving properly.
+ * Silently fails, no error message is given, and a truncated or empty
+ file is saved.

- Unfortunately I cannot attach the file in question. Let me know if there
- is any log I can provide.
+ (i tested it on a disk where I have 0 bytes available, and the file was
+ saved as a 0-byte file. So I don't know whether it is truncated to the
+ available disk space or always to zero bytes)
