Public bug reported: This is with Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, libc6 2.12.1-0ubuntu10.2, observed both on an i386 and an amd64 system.
In a nutshell: getaddrinfo() sometimes does not return results in the correct order, and, specifically, sorts IPv4 before (native) IPv6 even though gai.conf is configured to prioritize (native) IPv6 over IPv4. The effect is not reproducible, and I have observed both behaviors (IPv4 before IPv6 and IPv6 before IPv4) without changing the config at all, simply by reiterating the query often enough. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/717224 Title: getaddrinfo() does not sort result as per gai.conf (non-deterministic) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
