Public bug reported: When trying to burn CDs using the nautilus CD burner in an up-to-date Edgy, it gives an error and does not burn anything to the CD. The error does not occur in Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Insert a blank CD 2. Open nautilus and drag some files over to the blank CD 3. Browse into the blank CD (CD creator) in nautilus and click on "Write to disc" 4. Select the CD drive to use and click on write 5. Watch and wait Expected results: 1. The nautilus CD burner creates/prepares the CD image 2. The CD image is written to the blank CD Actual results: 1. The nautilus CD burner creates/prepares the CD image (as expected) 2. An error dialog pops up saying there was an error writing to CD. It doesn't give any detail about the nature of the error. Output of "dmesg | grep CD": [ 27.537152] hdc: LITE-ON LTR-48125S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive [ 28.022047] hdc: ATAPI 48X CD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache, UDMA(33) [ 28.022056] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 More info: - After seeing this bug occur I rebooted into Ubuntu 6.06 on the same machine and tried writing the same file to CD using the same method and it worked. - I've been working on a program in python using nautilusburn which is coming up with inexplicable errors at the same point as nautilus-cd- burner on edgy. This leads me to suspect the problem is in a library that both the nautilusburn python library and nautilus-cd-burner share. - When the CD image is being created, the "time left" in the progress bar is reported wrongly (looks like it adds an hour on). This is probably unrelated and I might open another bug for this. ** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Cannot burn CDs using nautilus in edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/56159 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
