Mark,
As Colin mentioned, you should not be trying to upgrade or reinstall Ubuntu by
installing Ubiquity to your desktop. The proper way to upgrade an existing
installation of Ubuntu is to either wait for the release, or if you're looking
to use the development version, `sudo update-manager -d` in a console should
work. The proper way to reformat and reinstall is to use the Live CD installer
(ubiquity) from the live CD.

However, if you're willing to run through it again, I would appreciate
it. Just update the installer program to the latest version by typing
`sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install ubiquity` in a console, and
then run it again with the --debug option (`ubiquity --debug`) until it
crashes or gets to the install confirmation page (I really wouldn't
proceed past that). When it crashes, please attach the /var/log/syslog
and /var/log/installer/debug files.

Thanks, and sorry for the delayed reply.
