@aborigenes please stop advising to install .debs manually. The recommended way of installing LibreOffice in Ubuntu should be using the PPA at this point. I put together my notes about that here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOffice
@Tony, I haven't experienced any crashes for some time now, purging previous data/installs is important before moving to the PPA install.
