Details: When I go to terminal 1 with CTRL-ALT-F1, log in as root and execute "powerdown now" the computer turns of, including showin immediately a nice Kubuntu logo. This works. When I select "turn off" from KDE the system logs out of X normally, including playing the sound and then the following happens: 20% of all cases: graphical garbage appears on top of screen and after a while a brief flash of the kubuntu logo appears, just before the computer powers down 15% of all cases: kubuntu logo is shown and shutdown proceeds normally 65% of all cases: monitor looses input signal and goes to sleep, computer completely stuck, have to switch off manually by pressing power key for 7 seconds. I seem to remember reading something like this a long time ago in the edgy forums, cannot find it. My feeling is that the Operating system information: Using Kubuntu Feisty, starting from Beta.
