Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10, the users administration interface does
not come up for root. Instead, the complete menue appears in grey, and
the "wait" cursor signals an endless loop. The only way to terminate it
is to kill the process.

Details:
In a terminal:

  christ...@christian-desktop:~$ sudo users-admin
  [sudo] password for christian:
users-admin: Fatal IO error 11 (Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfÃŒgbar)
on X server :0.0.

(The resource is presently not available.)

If, however, I call users-admin as a normal user, something else
happens:

  christ...@christian-desktop:~$ users-admin
  (users-admin:2335): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion
`G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

Despite the error message, the user administration appears to work
alright in this latter case.

Observe also the broken special characters in the messages.

** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
