Howdy guys, I just tested this on 1.5.0.10, I cannot reproduce this bug, both ways described in Scotts report work fine for me..
Can you please try running Thunderbird from the Command Line with the '-safe-mode' option being passed, this will disable any extensions/themes you have that may cause a problem..
