Well this is not only for empathy ... pidgin has the same problem. 1) when I try to connect on QQ, QQ is thinking that I m trying to hanck this account and QQ my QQ account is disabled. QQ seems to don t be important. But it is used by all chinese speackers. So it has hundreds millions users. 2) The default version is QQ 2005 -> it should be QQ 2008 or later version.
