Just happened to me as well when upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10: I fixed it with sudo dpkg-divert --remove /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 sudo dpkg-divert --remove /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1.2 sudo apt-get purge fglrx
