It's worth noting that in my case, the strange part is that the problem
cropped up only days after the erroneous AP was turned on; and three
other notebooks (heavy network users) on the premises had no problems
(macos, windows, and ubuntu 10.04 on a thinkpad x200). Not that I expect
my bad network environment to work correctly, just odd that the other
PCs handled the situation without a problem.
