Public bug reported: Binary package hint: media-player-info
I just bought a Sony player (NWZ-E355). On Windows, it is recognized as an MTP device, but when I plug it in my Ubuntu PC it is seen as a mass storage device. This is pretty nice. :) What is less nice is that my audio player is recognized as a USB thumbdrive, not an audio player. Here I would like to suggest some infos to make NWZ-E355 seen as an audio player in Ubuntu. [Device] Product=Walkman NWZ-E355 Vendor=Sony AccessProtocol=storage DeviceMatch=usb:054c:04cb; [Media] OutputFormats=audio/mpeg;audio/mp3;audio/x-ms-wma;audio/wma;audio/aac;audio/mp4;audio/mpa;audio/x-wav;audio/wav;audio/3gpp;video/x-ms-wmv;image/jpeg [storage] AudioFolders=MUSIC/;PICTURE/;PICTURES/;DCIM/;VIDEO/;PODCASTS/ I'm not sure m-p-i can manage videos, playlists or pictures folders -- I just copied a random m-p-i file and adapted it to the NWZ-E355, and it seems to work. But if so: - Music is stored in MUSIC/. I don't know if there is a limit in folder depth; - Videos are stored in VIDEO/; - Pictures are stored in PICTURE/, PICTURES/ and DCIM/ (I don't know why so many folders); - Playlists are stored in Playlists/ (only the first letter in caps). I don't know what types are managed by the player. According to Sony's manual, PLA from WMP are probably the only one type recognized by E355, but I might be wrong. I don't know how I could test this. I attached a 'capability_00.xml' file that is located in the device. You might find some useful informations to complete this m-p-i.
