I moved to kernel version 2.6.36-020636-generic #201010210905 several days ago and have done many suspend/resume and dock/undock in my HP 8530W notebook without any issues with system lockup or freeze. I also moved away from using the proprietary Nvidia driver in favor of Nouvea but doubt this has any affect on the issue.
