Same problem. After updating to 10.10 I cannot login to gnome session. After few secconds of blank screen gdm login prompt reappears. Ctrl-alt to tty1, stopping gdm and typing startx make my gnome session appear. (I am on ati mobility x1200 with radeon driver)
