Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager
If the Ethernet cable is plugged in during boot - fine, an IP is
obtained.
If the laptop is already booted and an Ethernet cable is plugged in -
nothing, networking has to be restarted (/etc/init.d/networking restart)
to force it to look for a DHCP server, otherwise it is content with
avahi.
