Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
Upgrading 10.4 to 10.10 I assume the bug is in update manager, but maybe it was in portmap and update-manager just caught the error flag? Anyway, update-manager threw the following info about the bug: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Perhaps this is the reason I got a "could not install the upgrades" at the end, which I will also file a bug report on. lsb_release -rd says: Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 Not sure which packagename to use for apt-cache - here's the update-manager output: update-manager: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1:0.142.20 Version table: 1:0.142.20 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates/main i386 Packages 1:0.142.19 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages I expected the update-manager to update - it mostly did. It said didn't update portmap. Maybe it did though. here's the output for portmap: portmap: Installed: 6.0.0-2ubuntu1 Candidate: 6.0.0-2ubuntu1 Version table: *** 6.0.0-2ubuntu1 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/692089 Title: During update to Kubuntu 10.10, portmap install failed -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
