It seems some ATI KMS related bug for me, if you solve it by removing the graphics card. This seems hard for debugging, hopefully I'm wrong.
If you have another machine, and feel like you have some time for this, you can try the kernel netconsole to send the kernel messages over the network and save them remotelly.
