I am also affected by this bug (for quite some time now actually).

I was so fed up with this situation that I decided to do something about
it: I created a patch which adds support for password protected keys.

You need to apply this patch to a "trunk" checkout from KDE's Subversion 
repository.

My patch is still pending review, so the fix is not yet upstream.
