> Wiping the Akonadi database fixed the problem

Nope, sorry: Wiping the Akonadi database had no visible effect at all as
to the problem discussed. - The solution was (in addition to the
definition in the KDE Resources) to use "the old KDE Resources
mechanism" in KAddressBook.

Another possibly interesting detail - there is another user ("user2") on the
affected systems, having (almost) exactly the same configuration of
addressbooks as initially reported. In KDE-Ressources, there are three
addressbooks installed and active:
 - /home/user2/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf (vcard),
 - /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf (vcard, read only) and
 - akonadi-resource

Both user and user2 have their own vcard file configured to be fully
accessible and the other's read only. For user2, this configuration has
remained fully functional both in KMail and in KAddressBook. No need to
use the old KDE Resources mechanism in KAddressBook (nor to wipe the
Akonadi database, of course).

Had the bad sync of the local computer and the NFS server been a
problem, shouldn't user2 face the same problem as reported above?
