Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vim

Hello,

is there no highlighting of the selected area in the terminal-based
version of vim anymore?

1) Release: Ubuntu 10.10 amd64
2) Package-Version: 2:7.2.330-1ubuntu4 (package 'vim')

To reproduce:
Open gnome-terminal.
open any file in vim, e.g. type $vim fubar.txt
use visual mode (v) to select some text

3) I expect to get a visual indication of some sort of the area highlighted
4) The text is selected (I can copy it or delete it) but there is no visual
indication of the area selected

This problem does not occur in other editors (like nano). If I select
text in the terminal I also get a visual indication (selected part has
white background in 'default' theme).

** Affects: vim (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
