Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pitivi
1. Add a video to the timeline 2. Add an audio clip to the timeline 3. Click and drag the audio clip horizontally to a desired point on the timeline Expected behaviour: Audio clip should move to the exact location you specified on the timeline. Actual behaviour: Audio clip snaps to discrete positions along the timeline (these positions are often several seconds apart). Discussion and workaround: Snapping prohibits exact placement of audio which causes problems for projects where synchronisation between audio and video is important. As a workaround it is possible to place the audio clip first (at the desired point on the timeline) and then add the video last. However it is often necessary to line the audio up with the video so the real workaround is more convoluted: (1) Add video, (2) find point on timeline where you want audio to start, (3) remove video, (4) move audio to desired location, (5) add video back to timeline, (6) confirm that audio and video line up during playback, (7) repeat steps 3-6 as needed ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: pitivi 0.13.5-1ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-23.41-generic 2.6.35.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-23-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Dec 7 22:22:25 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: pitivi ** Affects: pitivi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/686856 Title: Audio clips snap to discrete positions on timeline -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
