I get the same thing. This is pretty silly. Why does hal depend on smartdimmer, also? This is an nVidia LCD panel tool. Surely HAL should be able to detect if it's there or not, not have it as a forced dependency. I run on VirtualBox and Intel graphics machines so smartdimmer is useless to me.
