This happens when I click on an irc:// link in Epiphany and xchat-gnome isn't yet open. irc://irc.freenode.net/openSUSE-project is the offending link and it was clicked on http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org on the right under Upcoming Events.
