I am sorry but i must ask if there is hope that this problem is fixed in the
next time?
I have 4 PC's with identical mainboard using for office and it makes no sense
for me running them with an OS that cannot print.
The parallel port is also used for programming microcontrollers.
It's more than nasty to boot Debian stable when you must print.
At this time i am planning to migrate to Kubuntu the other PC's - but not
without a printing capability ...

Besides - there are more and more problems with the drivers of good old
interfaces.
In Debian i already have to miss the analog joystick port, which is very
usefull for tricky inputs of simple signals to the PC.
And this interfaces are still existing on million of mainboards and PCI-cards!
