Thanks for reporting this bug. I have tried the usecase which you have mentioned, aka 1) Opened sound recorder 2) recorded a sound 3) pressed alt+f4 4) clicked the middle button on the dialog asking for confirmation, aka Cancel
Result: the sound recorder did not close, the file was not saved, so it is working as expected. I am using gnome-media 2.31.6, on Maverick meerkat.
