Same problem here. I see that the problem is related to the partition table that is not detected correctly or might be that the ipod has something wrong :-?. Doesn't work like this: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/rgavril# mount /dev/sdb2 /media/ipod/ mount: unknown filesystem type 'via_raid_member' But it works like this: mount /dev/sdb2 /media/ipod/ -t vfat Also, this output looks is correct: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ fdisk -l /dev/sdb Note: sector size is 2048 (not 512) Disk /dev/sdb: 4060 MB, 4060086272 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 123 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 2048 = 32901120 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 1 3 96264 0 Empty /dev/sdb2 4 123 3855600 b W95 FAT32 But where running cfdisk on /dev/sdb: Name Flags Part Type FS Type [Label] Size (MB) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pri/Log Free Space 24.68 sdb2 Primary W95 FAT32 987.04 Pri/Log Free Space 3043.36 Some other information: dmesg output: [18559359.660000] usb 5-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 10 [18559359.796000] usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices [18559359.796000] scsi6 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices [18559359.796000] usb-storage: device found at 10 [18559359.796000] usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning [18559364.796000] usb-storage: device scan complete [18559364.800000] Vendor: Apple Model: iPod Rev: 1.62 [18559364.800000] Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00 [18559364.804000] SCSI device sdb: 1982464 2048-byte hdwr sectors (4060 MB) [18559364.804000] sdb: Write Protect is off [18559364.804000] sdb: Mode Sense: 68 00 00 08 [18559364.804000] sdb: assuming drive cache: write through [18559364.808000] SCSI device sdb: 1982464 2048-byte hdwr sectors (4060 MB) [18559364.808000] sdb: Write Protect is off [18559364.808000] sdb: Mode Sense: 68 00 00 08 [18559364.808000] sdb: assuming drive cache: write through [18559364.808000] sdb: sdb1 sdb2 [18559364.808000] sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sdb [18559364.812000] sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 lsusb: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsusb Bus 005 Device 010: ID 05ac:1260 Apple Computer, Inc.
