I ran both commands after logging in as myself, starting a flash video,
switching to another user, starting a flash video there, then switching
back directly to myself (this did replicate the problem).  I then ran
the two commands as myself.

Looks like flash is using pulseaudio (only pulseaudio has the files
open)


$ sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
[sudo] password for cgw: 
                     USER        PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0:  cgw        1441 F.... pulseaudio
                     jodi       1794 F.... pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p:   cgw        1441 F...m pulseaudio
