@Earl - Glad to hear that a BIOS fix has resolved the problem.  Follow up 
questions:
  1. How does the touchpad enable hotkey behave now?
  2. Can the BIOS vendor provide any further details about what they changed to 
fix it?  (Any additional information might help us make the driver more robust.)

@Gursimran - This particular problem isn't related to suspend/resume -
the problem was with recognition of the touchpad at boot.
