The terminal log says:

  /usr/lib/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib: 175: Syntax error: "fi" unexpected

This file looks fine in the package we distribute, though, so I think it
must have become corrupt on your system for some reason.  If this is
still a problem for you (sorry for the delay!), then I suggest that you
run this command in a terminal to fix it:

  sudo apt-get --reinstall install grub-common

** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid
