Can confirm on my vaio VGN-S1XP with Feisty up-to-date. Cannot be fixed using Power manager because it has never supported my laptop's LCD. Brightness can be set only with FN keys and it has to be done at every boot, but at least in Edgy the system did not 'forget' the brightness level I set at previous boot.
