Ahh, this is the bug I meant.

The Fedora bug for this problem has a patch here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=537065#c53 . I've been
running with the patch on my work machine which had the same problem for
the past week and no problems with disappearing mouse pointers or "no
space" kernel messages.  Fedora is now including this patch in their
kernel according to the last comment in that bug (however, the last time
I checked upstream, they weren't yet).
Please consider applying this patch to the Ubuntu kernel.
