Thanks Panticz for the solution. I do not care about any side effects in the 
recovery functionality ( if there are any )
Of course you have to sudo this command though.
sudo sed -i '5s|true|false|g' 
/usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.*/share/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Recovery.xcu

That is good enough for me - as far as I am concerned this bug can be
closed now. Any votes?

...If that is not a problem to you - than why are you here? To me - disabling 
something I liked using for many years is not an option. It only starts 
starting faster the second time IF the memory is not used in the meantime by 
something else. Go play quake wars - quit - and start office again - and you 
are back to square one.
I like the one-click-insta-popup of all office apps. You do realize you only 
have to click once to pick and start any office app in the quickstarter? Well -
