+ Original Report:
+
  Binary package hint: ibus

I'm on Ubuntu 10.10 using 1.3.7-1ubuntu3 and when I use chewing to type,
whenever I don't enter a tone (which when using zhuyin to type is
considered a first tone), and I hit enter, no character is entered.
However, if I manually open the list of available characters then choose
the same character, it will enter it. It makes typing rather slow for
  me.

For example, if I try to type the character 安, normally I should only
have to type "-" on the US keyboard, which is the equivalent of ㄢ or
"an" in pinyin, then I hit the spacebar and it shows the character 安.
From here I should be able to hit enter to choose the character.
However, due to this bug I have to hit the spacebar then choose the
  character then hit enter.

I hope that is clear enough, if not I will try to explain in more
  detail.
