a) Do you have root access?
b) do you have ecryptfs-utils installed?

I have seen several occasions where the upgrade unfortunately removes
ecryptfs-utils, which does in fact make it impossible to access your
files. In this case, if you have root access, it's easy to solve this
with 'sudo apt-get install ecryptfs-utils', and a new login should
solve your poblem.
