Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hello,

I'm here to report a bug related to my Video Card.
I've an Asus laptop and the card is a Mobility Radeon X700.
This is the situation...

Now it's possible to boot the Ubuntu live cd with the "standard graphic
settings" and it use a 1024x768 resolution. The problem is that my laptop lcd
screen use a 1280x800 resolution, but when I try to set that resolution, I get
a strange and bad view of the Ubuntu desktop (see the screenshot)...
The only way I've to resolve this issue is to change the Xorg.conf file
manually, by adding these options:

Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS, AUTO"

and...

in the "Screen" Section I must add the resolution above ("1280x800") to
the begin of the list of the standard resolutions... ("1024x768"
"800x600" "640x480").

That's all I've done until now with feisty and edgy...

Let me know if I can help you.

Thanks for your help.
