I was having a similar problem. LaserJet 1320 didn't print at all or printed randomly. I think the problem is that the automatic tool sets up LIP instead of USB as printer URI. After I had changed it the printer started working. So go to System Config Printer->Printer Properties->URI device (change)->Connection and choose USB instead of LIP.
